Petosa History

The Petosa family business was established in 1922 with its founder Carlo Petosa in Seattle Washington. Carlo immigrated from Vinchiaturo, Italy in 1909. He migrated to San Francisco to apprentice in accordion manufacturing.

Following his apprenticeship, Carlo traveled to Seattle to marry wife Carolina Iacolucci. In 1922, Carlo started the family business, world-renowned "petosa accordions".

Carlo was joined in Seattle by his brother Michael and Sister Emilia (Varriano). Michael and wife Mary (Daquila) had ten children of which all went into the food industry. Fr. Joe Petosa, celebrating fifty years with the Catholic Church, serves food for the soul. The other nine collectively operated twelve restaurants and two grocery stores in Snohomish county. The Petosa Family Grocery store in Edmonds still remains.

In 1946, Carlo & son Joe expanded accordion production in Castelfidardo, Italy. The third generation has carried on the family tradition since 1978. The petosa accordion has become synonymous with a quality of excellence throughout the accordion world.

In 2007, the petosa family expanded their business interest in imports of high quality Italian Olive Oil and Italian foods under the name “Petosa di Italia”. As the third and fourth generation continue the family owned business, our goal will continue to be from the old-world Italian tradition of small production and superior quality.
